Yeah, the drums are buried, and pretty uncreative when compared to just about any previous album. If what I'm hearing about Rush including at least 5 S&A numbers on their upcoming tour are true, I sense a lot of "beer run" moments.

Agreed in regards to the tempoes. Geddy isn't delivering the lyrics like he did on VT.
Ceiling Unlimited, Stars Look Down, Vapor Trail, and Out of the Cradle still floor me on
that one. I'm digging Bravest Face a lot, like the way Geddy's verses and chorus snake
around the rhythm, and his melody is up there with "Available Light" in classic Ged land.

A fast song would've really helped. And I can't blame Ged for failing on some of the lyrics.
The lyrics are like a cheesy "Time and Motion" or "Virtuality" but over an entire album.
Snakes and Arrows is Neil's lyrical nadir by a longshot.

Alex sounds very good, although less "technical" than on VT. Yeah, I said it. Alex ripped
my throat off with his "rhythm as lead" work on VT, and aside from a few choice solos, S&A
doesn't highlight his best work.

Drums are buried in the mix under Alex's wall of guitars -- have you noticed that?

3.5 (shaky)out of 5.
