I really wish their label hadn't left emusic. Now I have to figure out if this is worth having the cd...

I’m not sure if it can accurately be said that the Raconteurs’ new album, Consolers of the Lonely, represents an unexpected left turn. After all, who’s to say that their 2006 debut, Broken Boy Soldiers, isn’t the aberration instead?

Excellent point that I think most people miss when discussing "sophomore" albums.

You had me worried there at first, but I personally think it sounds like a fairly logical extension of BBS. I haven't listened all of the way through, but I really enjoyed the first few tracks. "The Switch and The Spur" was the first one to hit me as something I didn't really like. But it sounds like a track that might grow on me after a few listens.

Hopefully today I'll get a chance to spin the entire thing.
