I’ve posted about my new-found love of Ethiopian jazz before, but maybe that wasn’t enough to convince you to give it a try. So let’s try again! Here’s a phenomenal cut from Mulatu Astatke’s great 2010 release for the Strut label, Mulatu Steps Ahead. It’s “Mulatu’s Mood,” and I can’t think of a better way to start your Sunday than to let this music just help you drift away to another world.

The beauty of this arrangement is how it sounds completely modern and yet timeless at the same time. It’s got that insistent beat, but still manages to feel laid back. Amazing.
