I love behind the scenes movie stuff, particularly anything to do with the classic Star Wars trilogy. So imagine my joy when I stumbled upon this great crop of images taken during the filming of Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back. Most of these images are instantly identifiable, while a few will test your love of a galaxy far, far away. Click on any image for the full-size version.
Growing up I was intimately familiar with the great sets of Star Wars drinking glasses sold at Burger King, with the Empire Strikes Back collection being my favorite. If you need a reminder, here's an ad for the 1977 edition: But what I didn't know about until very recently was the series of beautiful posters from which the design on those glasses was borrowed. So even though I'm well into adulthood it's pretty weird to see this photo of the cast of Star Wars, circa 1977/78, hanging together in civvies. I'm sure once George Lucas gets his hands on this he'll photoshop Hayden Christensen in it. I'm sure you recognize Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher). You can probably figure out which ones are R2-D2 (Kenny Baker) and Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew). The last one (next to Han) is Darth Vader himself, David Prowse. Sorry Anthony Daniels, you weren't invit
