I'm not sure what the origin of the whole "desert island" thing is when referring to music, movies, and other stuff you really like. Why not a tropical island? That one Tom Hanks got stuck on in Cast Away seemed pretty nice, didn't it?
Oh right, the point. So apropos of nothing, I recently participated in a fantasy draft on a favorite message board of mine. But instead of drafting a sports team, we picked from a list of every ... Read on, Daddy-O

I guess I must be getting mellow in my old(er) age. For most of my life I've eschewed the musical movie format as being so much tacky crap. Oh sure, I dig The Wall and The Wizard of Oz, but those are givens. I'm speaking of the films that were big in my grandparents' day - lavish sets, flimsy plot lines, and songs that were more cringe-worthy than enjoyable. In short, I had written the genre off as, well, ... Read on, Daddy-O

The postcard has become a lost art; a quaint relic of the past. Oh sure, you can still find quantities of them in those spinning metal racks in any airport gift shop. But who really uses them for their intended purpose anymore? Quick – how much postage does it take to send a postcard in [...]
The postcard has become a lost art; a quaint relic of the past. Oh sure, you can still find quantities of them in those spinning metal racks in any airport gift shop. But who really uses them for their intended purpose anymore? Quick – how much postage does it take to send a postcard in the US? Exactly.
I came across these postcards at an antiques show a few years ago. Sure, I like to look at all the nice antique furniture and ... Read on, Daddy-O
