Listening to Robert Glasper's albums is a good way to appreciate the Brooklyn-based pianist's incredible talent for performing and composing. An even better way is to catch one of his live performances, such as Friday night's concert at the 360-seat Berlind Theatre, located on the campus of Princeton University. Glasper's trio (with bassist Vicente Archer and new drummer Chris Dave) performed as a single organism, deftly playing off each other over the course of their set. While Archer is a solid (although not spectacular) bassist, the stars of the show were Glasper and Dave, whose instrumental prowess cannot be doubted. Compiling Best of/Worst of music lists is always a risky endeavor. Inevitably you'll have a bunch of people who are upset because this band or that song was either left off, placed too highly, or included at all. Luckily for me I don't give a crap what anyone else thinks. That being said, I am including the caveat that I am only one man and simply don't have as much time to listen to and absorb music as I used to, so I readily admit that I probably missed out on a lot of good stuff this year. As far as what to include - I didn't want to include so many albums/songs from 2007 as to render this list useless, but I didn't want to overlook anything either.
