All-Time NFL Franchise Rankings, 2014 Edition

All-Time NFL Franchise Rankings, 2014 Edition

Football Friday, Sports
With training camp upon us and the 2014 NFL season just around the corner, it's time to revisit my list ranking all 32 franchises from best to worst. For reference, here is last year's list. And don't forget to check out all my other fantastic sports lists as well! I didn't see the need to introduce any major changes to my calculation system, other than to penalize teams for losing seasons. Also, I did go back and correct some data entry errors I discovered. None of this had a noticeable impact on the rankings, as no team moved more than two places from the 2013 list. The Criteria The categories and point values are as follows: 25 points for a championship game/Super Bowl win, 15 points for a championship game/Super Bowl loss (starting in 1932). 5 points for a season with a play
Retired NFL Jersey Numbers: AFC South

Retired NFL Jersey Numbers: AFC South

Football Friday, Sports
Since it’s the off-season I thought I’d start a fun project involving NFL history. So I’m going to go division by division and post galleries of football cards (when available) featuring all NFL players who have had their jersey numbers retired by their teams. This week it’s the four squads of the AFC South — the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Tennessee Titans. Previous galleries: AFC East, NFC East, AFC North, NFC North Houston Texans (0) The Texans have yet to retire a number in their decade-plus of existence. If I had to bust out my crystal ball, wide receiver Andre Johnson (#80) is a potential future candidate. He holds a number of team records (some by a sizable margin) and is poised in 2013 to become one of the NFL's top 20 receivers ever for c

Here’s the New Jacksonville Jaguars Logo

Sports
Well, I guess I'll have to do some updating of my AFC South NFL logo ranking before the 2013 season gets underway. That's because the Jacksonville Jaguars today unveiled their first new primary logo since the team joined the league in 1995. Here it is: For comparison, here's the previous version: On the whole, this is a step in the right direction. Obviously this new jaguar is more realistic, and looks like an actual cat rather than a conglomeration of geometric shapes assembled to resemble one. The color scheme of the fur is improved, but then again, there's that green tongue. It's like the big cat had a watermelon lollipop before the modeling session. As overall logos go, this is pretty good. As Jaguars logos go, it's a step up for certain. Even better is the team's new ...
The Best and Worst NFL Logos (AFC South)

The Best and Worst NFL Logos (AFC South)

Sports
With the 2012 National Football League season nearly upon us, now is as good a time as any to obsess once again on one of my favorite topics — logos. So I’m going to offer up my choices for the best and worst team football logos for all 32 current NFL franchises. Primary, alternate, and helmet logos listed on Chris Creamer’s outstanding logo website are all under consideration. Today I look at the four squads of the AFC’s South division. Previous entries: AFC East, NFC East, AFC North, NFC North Houston Texans Best Well this is an easy choice, since Houston has only had one logo since joining the league. As modern looks go it's not bad, although I still miss the Oilers. Worst See above. Indianapolis Colts Best Sorry Indy fans, the Colts will always be tied to Baltimore f
